THE EFFECT
The performer shows a small fish and talks about visiting a fish and chip shop where he ordered a Perfect Pink Plaice but was given a Battered Blue Bass instead. The mistakes mount up as the little fish in your hand magically changes colour. First it is Blue on both sides - then suddenly it's pink on both sides. A colour changing fish! Finally you get the Perfect Pink Plaice you ordered...and the fish becomes a skeleton on both sides!

The ICHTHUS fish symbol predated the cross as a symbol for the Christian faith meaning Jesus Christ Saviour. So these fishes make a fun impromptu introduction to the Gospel.
With the theme of fish, this is great for explaining the feeding of the 5000 – you can rewrite the patter to explain how hungry everyone was, so they ate their fish quickly (then transform it to bones!)
You can use it to talk about how God will not let you go hungry, His provision and goodness.
It’s also ideal for the explaining the concept of being fishers of men, “And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’” Matthew 4:19
You could start with the fish skeleton and talk about the dusty old bones, and how God can breathe new life into things – whether a change in your life, a dry old church organisation or any situation that needs renewal.
