We've only 3 of these and once they're gone, they're gone for ever!
A magical penetration of solid through solid that you'll love, on reflection!
A solid plexiglass mirror is displayed inside a rigid frame. The frame is placed into a cloth bag and the bag is zipped shut. The magician then thrusts a hat pin through the centre of the frame, apparently penetrating the mirror as well.
But wait, there's more! He then bends the frame until it is folded in half!
The bag is then opened, the frame is removed, and the mirror is left unharmed. Impossible!
This effect is so baffling that you present it exactly as designed, and will get a strong reaction. A real head-scratcher that defies all logic! But of course you could add a story too, such as linking it to the Looking Glass from Alice Through the Looking Glass...a magical mirror that's a portal to Wonderland!
This is a great way to teaching about the death and resurrection of Jesus breaking the barrier of sin between God and Man.
Explain that some people believe that it's bad luck to break a mirror. But how unlucky must you be to be crucified for something you didn't do. It happened to Jesus. Place the mirror in the bag. Tap it with the nail so everyone can hear that it's solid. Refer to the 3 nails used to crucify Jesus.
Explain that when Jesus died something extraordinary happened. The temple curtain was torn. Push the nail through the mirror. The barrier of sin between us and god was gone. Take the mirror our and explain that each one of us needs to reflect on our prioritises. Where is Jesus in our lives. Do we reflect the glory of God in what we say and do?
