Product Description
This time it really is done with mirrors. Push a hanky, pencil and even your finger through a solid mirror.
This is a classic piece of magic, that has a powerful impact on audiences of all ages. After all, a mirror is something everyone is familiar with. Everyone knows you cannot push a hanky through a piece of glass without breaking it. Except you, magical you, now can!
We love this prop. The hanky is hard-wearing and the mirror is just the right size to hold in your hand. It's big enough for a large group, small enough to use one-to-one. It slips easily into your jacket pocket. Everything can be examined before and afterwards.
And it's a magical illustration for so many different biblical truths, making it the perfect trick for any magician, youth or church working looking for an inexpensive gospel magic trick.
EFFECT
Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? You show the audience your mirror and give it a spin, allowing it to catch the lights with a little bit of showmanship.
Tapping the glass with a pen, you show that it's solid. Any sceptical member of the audience can confirm this. Taking a white hanky your start to clean the mirror, and suddenly it starts to pass through the glass. WOW. You flip the mirror to show the hanky coming through the back.
Flipping the mirror back around, grabbing the hanky you pull it out of the centre and show the mirror is solid. No holes. No gaps. No way for the hanky to pass through.
Now that's real magic!
GOSPEL PRESENTATION
'For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.' 1 Cor 13:12
With a little imagination, you can use this effect to illustrate many different lessons. Here are a few to get you started
Piercing the Barrier
Start by saying 'If you look into this mirror you can see what is wrong with the world.' Have several spectators look into it. 'Did you see it?' You look in it and say. 'I can see the problem. It's you, and it's me.'
Pick up the hanky and start to clean the mirror saying we're like a dirty mirror. 'We're made to reflect God's image. But sin has made tarnished and distorted that image. There's nothing we can do to get rid of that dirt, that sin. ' Tap the mirror. 'Sin has created an impenetrable barrier between us and God.'
'However, what we can't do, God can do. He sent his Son Jesus. Like this white hanky, Jesus led a pure, clean and sinless life.' Start to push the silk through the mirror. Hold the silk by both ends, leaving the mirror hanging in the middle. 'He hung on the cross for us. And if we repent and believe, that barrier between God and us is removed. Through Christ, we have access to our heavenly Father.'
Pull the silk out of the mirror and close with, 'That's something I'd like each one of us to reflect on.'
Crossing the Red Sea
'The Israelites are trapped! The Red Sea is calm and still like a mirror, but there is no way across. Until Moses...' and finish the story, illustrating how the people crossed safely across, by passing the hanky through the mirror.
God Finds a Way Through
'Have you ever found yourself in a painful and difficult situation?' Pick up the mirror. 'Perhaps it was your fault, and you can no longer look yourself in the face.' Pick up the hanky and dab your eyes. 'Perhaps you're crying yourself to sleep, because you're so desperately unhappy.'
Tap on the mirror. 'You think there is no way through. But there is hope. Because what man cannot do God can do.' Pass the hanky through the mirror. 'With God's help and strength you can get through any situation.' Pull the hanky out of the mirror. 'He will see you safely thorugh to the other side.'
